When dealing with a customer we should be prepared for both appreciation and complaint. Effective communication and good problem-solving skills are the keys to satisfying any customer who has complaints. We should deal with them calmly and strategically. If I or any of my teammates commit any mistake, I setup calls or video conference, and apologize for any mismanagement from our end, clarify all his doubts and appease him by solving the issue properly. In a bigger picture, my strategy is to work efficiently so that the client is pleased by our performance and the application developed.
In such scenarios, we always should remember that the Bride should have the final say in everything as it’s her big day. In this case, I would separately have a talk with the bride’s group or the bridesmaids telling them not to say ill about the chosen in front of the Bride. And then, I would praise the bride for her choice of gown and compliment her on how great she is looking, to uplift her mood.
As an aerospace engineer, we always need to think out of the box to envision and build something innovative. My profession never allows me to spend a mundane day at work. Once we had been in a challenging situation while building a missile with a meagre budget and extremely light-weight; importing parts was not an option due to the budget constraint. We worked hard and smart, day in and day out, to manufacture all together new framing materials and communication system were made in a miniature form.Thinking out of the box, led us to the successful implementation of the project.
I believe effective communication is the key to resolve any conflict- be it professional or personal. Let me talk about an instance when I had a conflict with my manager regarding the ETA of the deliverables. According to him, we should have given an ETA of 4 months to the client, whereas as per my design and strategy of the sprints we needed 7-8 months time. To handle the situation I had a detailed discussion with my manager and I explained to him the entire strategic planning and design implementation that needed to be done. Then he understood the situation and agreed to intimate the client with the updated ETA of 7 months.
